Ladoga – Mrs. Bertha Glover Payne, 86, died at 1:45 a.m. Saturday her birthday at Culver Hospital. She had been in failing health the last 7 years and seriously ill for 5 days. Mrs. Payne was a member of the Haw Creek Church of Christ. She was born on April 22, 1881 in Thorntown the daughter of George and Cora Hughes Glover. She was married there to Ora E. Payne on Feb 6, 1901. She and her husband operated a farm near Ladoga until Mr. Payne’s death. Surviving are three sons: Kenneth of Ladoga; Maurice and Norval of Indianapolis; a daughter, Mrs. Vernice Keller of Ladoga; a brother, Charles also of Ladoga; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Gephart Funeral Home in ladoga. Burial will be in ladoga Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. – kbz
